Prachee is also the head of open science at Astera Institute. Her PhD is in Neuroscience from the University of Utah. Prachee’s favorite organisms are single-celled eukaryotes ideal for studying cytoskeletal machines, including ciliates, parasites, and algae.

Jed McCaleb is a Co-Founder and Advisor to the CEO. He is the Founder of the Astera Institute, which is dedicated to improving the process of science. Keith received a PhD in Biophysics from UC Berkeley, where he studied chromosome conformation during meiosis in the nematode C. elegans. Prior to joining Arcadia, he was a software engineer at the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub in San Francisco. His favorite organism is Pinus lambertiana, the sugar pine, for its graceful crown structure, enormous cones, and prominent role in the montane forests of the Sierra Nevada.

Tara was previously a Research Associate at the Carnegie Institution for Science with a focus on imaging host-microbe interactions. Tara received her PhD from Duke University in Marine Science and Conservation and was a Postdoc at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She studied the diversity and detection of possible biosignatures in planetary environments, working with extremophilic archaea and cyanobacteria. Her favorite organisms are (no surprise) "extremophiles," because they force us to question biases and expand the limits of our understanding of life.
